Congrats, Mike! Hope the signing went well. I’ll be seeing the flick Saturday at the Chinese in IMAX. When I get a copy of the actual book, I’ll have you sign it.

Is the Junior Novelisation based on the Official Novelisation (by Alan Dean Foster) or was it your own interpretation of the film’s screenplay?

Thanks for asking Richard! I used both the screenplay and a draft of Alan’s novel as resources to interpret and adapt the story.

That’s so awesome. I’m mega jealous that you not only got sent an advance copy of the script and e-book but also GOT PAID FOR READING THEM!!!

I’m still trying to get my head around the Starkiller Base. Is it mobile (from system to system) or was it built in orbit and has to stay there?

Thanks Richard — it’s always an honor to write Star Wars because of its audience.

As far as my interpretation, Starkiller Base was built into the planet. Whether that means it’s mobile or not, I can’t say for sure. But Alan has a pretty good description of how the weapon works in his novelization.
